KIMBERLY PATERSON

Registered Massage Therapist

Kimberly began her career as a Rehabilitation Specialist and as an aerobics instructor. She completed her Registered Massage Therapy Degree in 2004, her Pregnancy Massage diploma in 2004, her Reflexology and Reiki diploma in 2005, and her Doctorate of Acupuncture in 2007.

Kimberly incorporates a wide variety of modalities within her treatments to obtain the most effective results.

With 11 years of clinical experience completed, she believes that aggressive treatments along with client education will further her client’s ability to heal and return to full function. Kimberly focuses her practice around sport specific and work-related injuries, as well as pregnancy and infant/child care. She encourages all clients to become actively involved in obtaining optimal health and wellness through regular treatments, proper diet and exercise.

DAYTONA GILROY-BRIAND

M.Sc., RMT, CAT(C)

Daytona Gilroy-Briand is a Certified Athletic Therapist, Registered Massage Therapist and acupuncture provider working at Total Health Link and Progressive Sports Medicine. Graduating from Concordia University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science specializing in Athletic Therapy, Daytona then attended the Ontario College of Health and Technology to obtain her diploma in Massage Therapy. Daytona has also completed her Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Science through McMaster University’s School of Health Sciences where she focused her research on intervention strategies to minimize recurrent hamstring injuries in athletic populations. In addition, she has completed her diploma in acupuncture and dry needling.

Daytona has experience working with a variety of patient populations. Daytona has worked in USport in the RSEQ, OUA, and the CCAA. She most recently held the title of Head Athletic Therapist at the University of Toronto Mississauga campus. She continues to work as well with general populations in a private clinic setting to help encourage health and wellness to all.

Daytona’s passion for sport and wellness extends into her daily life, where she plays soccer, goes to the gym, and does yoga. Her motivation to encourage safe and rapid return to sport and day-to-day function for all of her athletes and patients as well as her passion for encouraging an active lifestyle makes her thoroughly enjoy her daily work as a Certified Athletic Therapist/Registered Massage Therapist.

Dr. Mitch Atkinson

DC, BSc Kin (Hons), Chiropractor

Dr. Mitch Atkinson completed his undergraduate degree at Western University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Kinesiology. At Western, he also volunteered as a teaching assistant for the clinical anatomy labs. Dr. Atkinson went on to complete his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Most recently he obtained a Diploma in Football Medicine from FIFA.

Dr. Atkinson performs thorough assessments on patients to find the cause of their signs and symptoms. Whether the goal is to be pain free, recover from an injury faster, have better mobility, strength, coordination or athletic ability, Dr. Atkinson creates customized evidence-based treatment plans for each patient to help reach their goals. His treatments may include spinal and extremity adjustments using Diversified technique, myofascial release technique, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), modalities (shockwave, laser, TENS, IFC), rehabilitative exercises, athletic taping, custom orthotics, and patient education.

Having played multiple sports from a recreational to an elite level and being treated by a chiropractor for his basketball injuries, Dr. Atkinson is passionate about helping athletes recover from their injuries faster and getting them back to playing their sport. He is also dedicated to treating the general population because he knows chiropractic care can keep them staying active in order to live a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Ed Fillion

Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Ed Fillion graduated from the University of Alberta in 1990 with a four year B.Sc. degree, specializing in microbiology and human physiology. His post-graduate degree was completed at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and in 1994, he was granted his Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

Since his graduation, Dr. Fillion has completed numerous seminars covering clinical diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques, clinical and sports nutrition, and pediatric chiropractic techniques. Dr. Fillion has a keen interest in the analysis and treatment of feet and has completed numerous courses and seminars covering orthotics and the diagnosis and rehabilitation of foot injuries.

Dr. Fillion’s holistic approach to treatment, combines a wide variety of chiropractic adjusting techniques with nutrition, stretching, massage, physiotherapy, custom foot orthotics, extremity adjustments, and active rehabilitation exercise programs to provide an individualized and customized program which assures that his patients reach their goals quickly and safely.

Dr. Fillion is a certified BackSafe Consultant. He conducts fully customized, hands-on employee training and ergonomic assessments designed to reduce WSIB costs while teaching the employee preventative strategies to reduce the incidence and severity of both workplace and home injuries. His client list includes GK Work Wear, The City of North York Public Works and Air Canada’s Flight Attendant Division.

DR. AMBER PURINS

(H)B.KIN, DC, Chiropractor, ART Provider

Dr. Amber Purins completed her undergraduate education at McMaster University where she graduated with an Honours Degree in Kinesiology. While at McMaster, Amber competed as Captain of the Women’s Varsity Rugby team. Dr. Purins went on to complete her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and with Clinic Honours.

Dr. Purins enjoys practicing within multi-disciplinary and is a strong advocate for inter-professional collaboration. Dr. Purins has pursued training in several different treatment approaches as an adjunct to her chiropractic training. She is full-body certified in Active Release Technique (ART®) and has been trained in Graston soft tissue therapy, Activator, Thompson and Webster adjustment techniques. Dr. Purins treats a variety of conditions and injuries throughout the entire musculoskeletal system. She bases her practice on a patient-centered, evidence-based approach utilizing the most up to date research, treatment options, and patient education to provide the most comprehensive care possible. As an athlete herself, Amber enjoys treating athletes at all levels of the athletic spectrum from leisure to recreational through to elite competitive athletes. Dr. Purins also has a keen interest in women’s health, pregnancy-related care, post-partum return to activity, and post-natal development.

Joya Sohani

Registered Physiotherapist

Joya is a passionate Registered Physiotherapist with a degree from NTR University (India). She attained a post-graduate diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion from London, Ontario.

Thereafter her focus is on Neuromusculoskeletal injuries in wide varieties of the population including post-surgical, geriatrics, neurological disorders and sports-related injuries.

Joya believes in developing an open and honest relationship with the client, guiding them through their challenges and motivating them to accomplish their goals. Her perception is to strengthen the client to self- manage their problem and live a healthy lifestyle. She feels that learning is a continuous process. Therefore continuously participates in professional development courses, webinars and reading evidence based journals.

Outside of her work, she enjoys hiking, walking, shopping, reading books and socializing with friends. She also supports and guides her friends on their journey of becoming a Registered Physiotherapist.
